Europe Street is a news service specialised in the European Union and citizens’ rights. Our mission is to cover EU debates, decisions and laws that are closest to people’s lives. We believe this is a way to increase participation in EU affairs.
In addition to our website and newsletter, we work with other publishers to develop their editorial projects in these areas of expertise and on the environment.
History
Europe Street News was launched in 2016 in the wake of the referendum on the UK exit from the European Union. The aim was to inform EU citizens in the UK and British citizens in the EU about their changing legal status, and to offer a European perspective over the EU-UK relationship.
We have been the first publication to report in a factual and systematic way about the rights of people impacted by Brexit. We also cover more broadly EU free movement rights.
Our primary target readers are citizens who move around the countries of the European Union and people with interests across borders. Many of them have been impacted by Brexit.
In the citizenship section of our website we report about issues related to EU citizenship, residence, and related rights. In the society section we cover the lifestyle aspects of moving across borders: healthcare, social security, languages, family rights, consumer rights. In the politics section we cover voting rights and the general political debate around citizens’ rights.
In 2019 we carried out the survey “Brexit, the EU and You” to test attitudes, expectations and information needs of the people most directly impacted by Brexit. More than 3,000 people responded. You can find the results here.

Founder and Editor: Claudia Delpero
Claudia is an Italian journalist specialised in EU and international affairs. She has over 20 years of experience in media and public affairs across Europe, China and Africa. After starting as a journalist in Italy, she worked as a press officer at the European Parliament in Brussels and as head of communications at the World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature in Brussels and Beijing, before moving to London and returning to the media.
